NIIT Lab@Home 16 EBDD

1. SynTech is a software development organization. The organization has 200 employees who use desktop computers to perform their daily tasks. The employees also use various small LOB applications. Recently, the organization has got a new software development project. Therefore, the management has decided to install a new, customized application on the computers of all the employees. Therefore, Jake, the IT Manager, has been assigned the task to deploy the application on all the computers. However, the organization does not have any specialized tool, such as SCCM, to centrally deploy the application on all the computers. Therefore, Jake needs to find a solution for deploying the application efficiently and centrally without investing any extra cost on infrastructure and within a limited time period. In addition, he may need to uninstall the same application after the project gets over from all the workstations of the Software Development department. Help Jake perform the desired tasks.

To deploy and roll back applications using GPO, you need to perform the following tasks:
1. Create a distribution point on the publishing server.
2. Create GPO for deployment.
3. Assign an MSI package.
4. Deploy the MSI package on the client.
5. Verify the deployment of the application on the client.
6. Remove an MSI package.
7. Verify the rolling back of the application.


Task 1. Create a distribution point on the publishing server.
1. Ensure that server Manager windiw is open and active.
2. click the Add roles and features link in the right pane. the Before you begin page of Add Roles and Features
wizard is diplayed.
3. click the Next button. the select installation type page is displayed.
4. click the next button. the select destination server page is displayed.
5. click the next button. the select server roles page is displayed.
6. select the Active Directory certificate service check box.
7. click the Add Features button.
8. click the next button. the select features page is displayed.
9. click the next button. the Active Directory certificate services page is displayed.
10. click the next button. the select role services page is displayed.
11. Ensure that the Certification Authority check box is selected.
12. select the Certificeta Enrollment policy Web service check box. the Add Roles and Features Wizard dialog box is displayed.


Task 2. Create GPO for deployment.
1. Click the notifications icon in the server manager window.
2. click the configure Active Directory certificate services on the destination server link.
3. click the next button. the role services page is displayed.
4. select the certification authority and certification Authority web Enrollment check boxes.
5. click the next button. the setup type page is displayed.
6. click the next button. the CA type page is displayed.
7. Ensure that the Root Ca option is selected.
8. click the Next button. the Private key page is displayed.
9. ensure that the create a new private key option is selected.
10. click the next button. the cryptography for CA page is displayed.
11. click the next button. the CA name page is displayed.
12. change the value of common name for this CA text box to Adatum-CSA-CA.
13. click the next button. the Validity period page is displayed..
14. click the next button. the CA Database page is displayed.
15. click the next button. the Confimation page is displayed.


task 3. Assign an MSI package.
1. Ensure that the server manager window is open and active.
2. click the Add roles and features link in the Right pane. the Before you begin page of add roles and features wizard is displayed.
3. click the next button. the select installation type page is displayed.
4. select the Remote desktop services installation option.
5. click the next button. the select deployment type page is displayed.
6. select the Quick start option.
7. click the next button. the select deployment scenario page is displayed.
8. select the session-based desktop deployment option.
9. click the next button. the select a server page is displayed.
10. click the next button. the After a few moments, the confirm selection page is displayed.
11. select the Restart the destination server automatically if required check box.
12. click the deploy button. the view progress page is displayed.
13. press the Ctrl+Alt+End keys, and then login as adatum\Administrator with the password as Pa$$w0rd.
14. click the close buuton when the installation is succeeded.

Task 4. Deploy the MSI package on the client..
1. select the remote desktop services node in the pane. the Overview page is displayed.
2. select the QuickSessionCollection node in the left pane.
3. select TASKS-Publish RemoteApp programs under the REMOTEAPP PROGRAMS section in the middle pane.
4. Scroll down and select the microfoft Word 2010 check box.
5. click the next button. the comfirmation page is displayed.
6. click the publish button. the completion page is displayed.
7. click the clise button.


Task 5.  Verify the deployment of the application on the client.

1. click the desktop tile.
2. click the Internet Explorer icon in the taskbar. the Internet Explorer window is displayed.
3. type https://172.16.16.11/RDWeb in the address bar, and then press the Enter key. the there is a proble with this welsite's security certificate page is displayed.
4. click the continue to this website (not recommended) link. the work resources page is displayed.
5. type Pa$$w0rd in the password text box, and then press the enter key. the RemoteApps are displayed..
6. click the connect button. the windows security dialog box is displayed.
7. type Pa$$w0rd in the password text box, and then press box is displayed.
8. click the ok button. the Document1 microsoft word window is displayed along with welcome to microsoft office 2010 dialog box.
9. select the use Recommended setting option.
10. close the Document microsoft work window.
11. sign out revert all the vitual machines.

task 6. Remove an MSI package.
1. Switch to the EBDD_SRV1 virtual machine.
2. press the windows key.
3. Type Deployment and Imaging Tool Environment, and then press the enter key. the Administrator: Deployment
   and Imaging Tools Environment window is displayed.
4. type copype amd64 c:\WinPE_amd64, and then press the enter key. After a few moments, the Success message is displayrd.
5. Type makewinpemedia /iso c:\WinPE_amd64 c:\WinPE_amd64\WinPe_amd64.iso, and then press the enter key. wait
   for success mecess of the command.
6. press the windows key.
7. type computer.
8. Right-click the computer tile, and then select the Map network drive icon.
9. the Map Network Drive dialog box is displayed.
10. type \\172.16.0.200\ISO in the Folder combo box.
11. click the finish button. the windows security dialog box is displayed.
12. type the user name and password of the host computer.
13. click the ok button.
14. close the ISO (172.16.0.200)(Z:) and computer windows.
15. switch to the command prompt window.


Task 7. Verify the rolling back of the application.
1. select media DVD drive insert disk in the virtual machine connection window. the open dialog box is displayed.
2. Browse to the D:\EBDD\ISO folder.
3. select the WinPE_amd64.iso file.
4. click the open button.
5. click the start button in the virtual machine connection window.
6. press any key as soon as get the massage, press any key the boot from CD and DVD... the EBDD_CL1_Win8 virtual machine
   starts booting from the winPE_amd64.iso file Once the booting is completed, the command prompt window is displayed,
   Wait till the command prompt displays <X:\windows\sytem32>.


2. TechWell Inc. has implemented folder redirection to centrally store users' data. This enables the users to access their data from any computer on the network of TechWell Inc. However, the employees of the Research department are often on the go. They need to work from different locations even when they are not using the company's network. This causes problems for them, as they are not able to access their data if a network connection is not available. This affects the productivity of the employees. You are working as the Network Administrator in the organization. You have been assigned the task to implement a solution that will solve the stated problem. How will you accomplish the assigned task?

To implement offline files, you need to perform the following task:
1. Configure offline files.

Task 1. Configuring offline Files.
1. Swirch to the EBDD_SRV1 virtual machine.
2. click the FileExplorer icon on the Taskbar, the Libraries window is displayed.
3. Expand the Computer node in the left pane.
4. select the Local Disk (C:) node in the left pane. the Local Disk (C:) window is displayed.
5. create a folder named ResearchData.
6. Right click the ResearchData folder, and then select share with specific people. the file sharing window is displayed.
7. type Reserach in the type a name and then click add, or click the arrow to find someone combo box.
8. click the Add button.
9. click the drop down arrow under the Permission Level column Corresponding to Research.
10. select the Read/Write option.
11. click the Share button.
12. click the done button.
13. right click the researchData folder, and then select the propeties option. the ResearchData Properties dialog box is displayed.
14. click the Sharing tab.
15. click the Advanced Sharing button. the Advanced sharing dialog box is displayed.
16. click the caching button. the offline setting dialog box is displayed.
17. select the all files and programs that the users open from the shared folder are automatically available offline option.
18. Ensure that the Optimize for performance check box is seleced.
19. click the ok button twice.
20. click the close button.
21. close the Local disk (C:) window.
22. log out from the EBDD_SRV1 virtual machine.
23. switch to the EBDD_DC1virtual machine.
24. Ensure that the server Manager window is open and active.
25. Expand the Policies Administative templates network nodes under the left pane.
26. type 1 in the first row of value column.
27. click the ok button twice.
28. right click the Enable file synchronization on costed networks option, and then select the Edit button. the Enable
file synchronization on costed networks window is displayed.
29. select the Enable option.
30. click the ok button.
31. close all the open windows.
32. log out and revert all the virtual machines.
